My wife and I canceled our Satellite TV some years ago and have never missed it. In fact I sit here now wondering how I ever had time to sit around and watch it in the first place. Don't get me wrong we do have a television that is on frequently. Probably too frequently! But by only being able to watch videos we own, borrow, or of course our Netflix, we limit our intake some.
Anyway, my post this week is inspired by a Disney movie that is truly adored by my three year old Bear (my wife and I use psuedonyms for our children in public online discussions, we have chosen animals for them). Bear has been running around the house talking about black dudes and how they are trying to get him. I wondered where this was coming from and of course racial issues came to mind (but I didn't think that was it). Then he talked abutr their hands being dangerous, and that's when I realized he was thinking about the TV bad guys in Bolt. They wear all black suits and black helmets, and have these gloves that seem to have tazers built into them. The cutest part of the whole thing is Bear runs around screaming "Watch OUT! They have Lectrically hands!!!"
Electricity can be a hard word to pronounce after all. I just wanted to revel in this time that he will grow out of all too soon. And to share something that my father-in-law said around a campfire once. "Nothing in life will make you happier than being with your kids."
Thanks for stopping by again. This post is almost more for me to preserve a memory than for you, but I hope you enjoyed it all the same. Spend some good time with your family and you'll not regret it.
